Get a DUI this weekend!

I am not trying to make light of a very serious offense and one that has led to the loss of many lives, but I am serious. Drive under the influence this weekend…under the influence of Podcasts!

Maybe you have a car that has direct access to Internet Radio. Maybe you have smart phone. An iPod. Or one of those hook ups so you can listen to your smart phone or iPod from your car’s cassette player. Whatever you have, whatever your method, there are some great podcasts out there. Make this the weekend that you listen to one. Make this the weekend when you listen to something new.

One of the greatest things about podcasts, that I think the terrestrial radio executives don’t understand, is that podcasts, when done right, don’t have commercials. They are 30 minutes, 60 minutes or 5 minutes of brilliance. Ok, well not all of them are brilliant, but there are plenty of great ones that you should pay attention to.

Want to learn about how to pay for your child’s college education? Great tips await you here.

Are you a mom or a dad looking for more energy? Are your kids keeping you so busy that you are feeling too run down? This podcast will help you devise a plan that will have you tip-top in no time.

Still looking for a great camp for your children this summer? If you live in the NW, then TrackersEarth is the place and here is an interview with the founder. He will give you a robust understanding of what they do and why the kids enjoy themselves so much.

Lots of moms are going running this weekend. Take these two hilarious moms along with you. One is from Denver, the other is from Portland. Listen this weekend and find out why they are the hottest running podcast around.

If you are thinking your child is special? Think again. Think about what you are really telling them. This show out of Chicago is capturing the hearts and minds of thousands in the Midwest.

And finally, this one is for all of you gluten-free eaters out there, especially if you enjoy the taste of a cold beer on a hot summer’s night. The North American Organic Beer Festival is in Portland, Oregon this weekend. Click here to hear from the founder of the event, a local brewer who started in his garage and is now playing with the big boys, plus travel to Belgium to talk gluten-free beer with the owner and brewer of Brunehaut beers.

This weekend I want you all to be careful. Don’t do anything stupid that might hurt yourself or someone else. It might be someone I love. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a road trip while under the influence, …the influence of your new favorite podcast. So go out. Have a great weekend and get a DUI with your new favorite podcast, my friends!

Cheers,

Todd Mansfield

Todd is the co-founder and Director of Storytelling of Pagatim, has unabashedly let his coveted title of “Best Looking Bald Head in Sports Television” go to, well… his head. But in all seriousness, with over 20 years in sports broadcasting, and several awards from the Associated Press under his belt, this guy is a master of audio and compelling storytelling. His wit is sharp, his honesty is blunt, and his jokes are hilarious, and his fashion sense is not to be messed with. You can get an earful of his talent weekly as he co-hosts on Parenting Unplugged and Dads Unplugged.
